At the start of the year or semester, ensure your registration has had 24 hours or more to go through the system before checking Moodle. Your modules should appear automatically, normally around a week before your course start date.

Once registered, log into uLink at 2-hour intervals and Moodle will run a script to activate the modules. Second semester (Block 2) modules can be checked in the second semester.

Check that you are registered academically for all subjects with no blocks (financial, academic, administrative) and that subjects appear on your registration as not cancelled.

Check your proof of registration: uLink → Classes → ITS iEnabler → Proof of Registration (PDF).

Contact your faculty to adjust your registration: uj.ac.za/faculties

Priority for device allocation is given to NSFAS and ECP students.

Important for NSFAS students: Collecting a device will impact your funding allocation — you will not receive your full book allowance.

Loan devices are allocated based on availability. If a loan device is allocated, the value will be charged to your student account. Loan devices are second-hand units returned by other students.

While waiting for your device, use the open computer labs on your campus (see Computer Labs section above).

Student access cards may be collected on campus (only after registration) from 14 January 2026 until 6 February 2026, 08:00–15:30:

  • APB Campus — Con Cowan Building, Bring-your-own-device venue, 2nd floor
  • APK Campus — D1 Lab 208
  • DFC Campus — Samsung Venue, 2nd Floor, QK Building
  • SWC Campus — GNA09, Robert Sobukwe Building

Bring your proof of registration and ID. Access cards for senior students are automatically activated after registration.

Lost/stolen card: A replacement fee of R150 applies. Report to UJ Protection Services immediately:

Note: Student cards may NOT be given to others to gain campus access. Misuse results in a R100 fine and may be referred to Student Judicial Services.

It is extremely important to keep your contact details updated so UJ and your lecturers can communicate with you.

Inside uLink: Classes → ITS iEnabler → Change personal contact details (near the top of the menu).
